Abstract
Vanous next generation optical access systems over 10-Gbit/s operation are investigated. We have proposed a wavelength (λ)-tunable 40-Gbit/s WDM/TDM-PON system that realizes increasing the system capacity economically and adding various flexible functions to optical access networks. In this paper, we clarify requirements and technical issues of a λ-tunable burst-mode transmitter used in subscribers' equipments. Moreover, we experimentally investigated transmission charactenstics of λ-tunable burst-mode transmitter using directly modulated laser diode at 1.5 μm band.
