Abstract
The present article aims to agrue that an English class using the Internet for practice in real-time communication is a a new development of recent computer technology that ensues from earlier methods of English education like the use of CD-ROM or web-based teaching materials. The author is in charge of one class of this kind persemester in collaboration with a silimar class at Hokkaido University and this class is highly evaluated by its participants. These facts show that our experimental English class using a text-based chat system with a 3-dimensional cyberspace is a great recent development in conformity with the direction of technological innovation in the field of English education.
