Abstract
To reduce the power consumption for aggregation in optical access network, energy efficient wide-are photonic aggregation using λ-tunable WDM/TDM-PON has been proposed. Although this approach can reduce the cost and the power consumption of the aggregation function by aggregating large number of users in a PON branch, it has a problem that the throughput of an aggregated link is degraded by the presence of heavy user's traffic. In this paper, we propose the dynamic load-balancing method to distribute OSU's traffic load equally. The monitoring technique of each OSU's traffic load and the OSU-ONU assignment algorithm is proposed, and the proposed dynamic load-balancing method is validated by simulations using the model traffic based on a measurement.
