Photoisomeric chiral dopants are expected to change their molecular structure by photoirradiation, resulting in changing their helical twisting power of a liquid crystal molecular alignment by light. We synthesized photoisomeric chiral dopants which have the higher helical twisting power (HTP) and higher change of the HTP by photoisomerization to photocontrol of HTP.
