Abstract
Recently we found a new optical phenomenon concerning metallic nanoparticle two dimensional (2D) sheets; When we deposit 2D crystalline sheets composed of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs, light yellow color) on gold substrate, they change their colors drastically depending on the number of layers (orange ~ red ~ pink ~ purple ~ blue). It originates from a complex interaction of the metallic nanoparticle sheets with metal substrates at nano-interface. This plasmonic nano-coating can be applied even to flexible plastic substrates. This 2D nanoparticle sheet has a potential for high-sensitive biosensors or highly efficient optoelectronic devices due to their plasmonic property to trap the selected light strongly at nano-interface.
