Abstract

We report 10-Gbit/s burst-mode clock and data recovery units for optical packet communication systems. We employ novel design-optimization, packaging, and bit-rate adjustment techniques to achieve an instantaneous response and a wide bit-rate tolerance. Fabricated units operate at 9.953 and 10 Gbit/s with minimum preambles of only 9 and 15 bits, respectively.
