1.3-μm multimode waveguide photodiodes suitable for optical hybrid integration with a planar lightwave circuit

Abstract

We propose a multimode waveguide photodiode utilizing asymmetric waveguide structure which is suitable for optical hybrid integration without coupling lenses, and has a high responsivity of 0.95 A/W at a wavelength of 1.31 μm. Its 1-dB coupling tolerance to a planar lightwave circuit is ±2 μm in the vertical direction.
