13.4 T generation by superfluid cooling

Abstract

A magnet with NbTi/Ta and NbTi conductors was constructed to be operated in a superfluid cryostat. The magnet achieved 13.4 T. Design and performance specifications are given for the magnet and cryostat and cooling power for the He II bath under quench conditions is evaluated.
