Abstract

We proposed a new micro actuator made of elastomer and a magnetic material. It could be activated by an applied magnetic field without electric wiring Theoretical formulation for the present micro actuator is expressed, which shows that the micro actuator could work even though it became nanoscopic scale. We demonstrate experimentally that deformation of our actuator is distinctive, and also discuss how to design the initial structure to obtain desired deformation pattern by computational method.
