Abstract

A 60-year-old woman had been treated for hyperlipidemia and diabetes with oral medication for seven years with poor control. She presented with numerous itchy papules on her trunk which began to appear one year previously. She had been treated with topical steroids, which resulted in no improvement. Physical examination revealed five to six hundred yellowish to red-brown papules on her trunk, upper limbs and thighs. A biopsy specimen of the papules showed dense infiltration of histiocytes intermingled with some foam cells and Touton giant cells. Based upon these findings, we diagnosed this case as multiple adult xanthogranuloma associated with hyperlipidemia.
