Abstract
A 75-year-old man, who had been diagnosed with hypertension and right chronic pyothorax, consulted with our department because of an enlarged pyothorax shadow on chest x-ray. He had a history of artificial pneumothorax for pulmonary tuberculosis. Although CT and MRI of the chest showed no masslike lesion in the pyothorax cavity, PET/CT revealed a mass lesion with high SUV value. A CT-guided transthoracic needle aspiration cytology of the lesion was performed, and the diagnosis of pyothorax-associ-ated lymphoma (PAL) was confirmed. A PET/CT is useful for localization diagnosis of PAL.
