A network-based evolutionary method to solve inconsistent simultaneous equations approximately

Abstract

A novel iterative method to solve simultaneous equations with a data-flow network is proposed. The method alternately produces candidate tokens by back-calculation and selects them by the criterion of mutual consistency. Conflict between the values of tokens are gradually eliminated by these operations, and the token values finally approach towards a solution. Numerical experiments show that the proposed method can solve systems of inconsistent simultaneous equations that such differentiation-based algorithms as Newton-Raphson's method cannot solve.
