    Abstract

A novel formula for analyzing electromagnetic scattering from inhomogeneous electromagnetic band-gap structures (EBG) using the lattice sums technique and isolated T-matrices was described. The formula, which was in S-matrix form based on space harmonics, was found to very efficient, accurate and suitable to multilayer structures. This method avoids the use of the aggregate T-matrix which is easy to accumulate the computing error. The modification eliminated the complex computation of the aggregate T-matrix.
