Abstract

A “grain coating” method is proposed to improve the superconducting property of intergrain junctions. in this process, Ag is coated onto the surface of crystalline grains by vacuum evaporation. A remarkable enhancement of Jcis obtained with a very thin (∼1 nm) Ag coating of less than 0.01% in weight proportion. The dependence of Jcon the coating thickness seems to be related to the coherence length in this oxide superconductor.
