Abstract

The Japanese species of the genus Nemapogon Schrank, 1802 (Lepidoptera, Tineidae) are taxonomically revised. In Japan, in the past only Nemapogon granella (Linnaeus, 1758), which is known as a stored grain pest, had been recorded. In the present paper, N. mesoplaca (Meyrick 1919), N. robusta Geadike, 2000 and N. bidentata Xiao & Li, 2010 are newly recorded from Japan. The adult morphology, i.e. wing venation, male and female genitalia of the four Nemapogon species is illustrated. These species are clearly separable not only by the male and female genitalia of the adults but also by the DNA barcodes.
