Abstract
A new simple model for a single mode III crack propagation with surface dissipation in a two-dimensional elastic sheet is examined. The Wiener-Hopf technique is used to obtain the stationary solutions analytically for both subsonic and supersonic regions, and the crack propagation velocity is determined as a function of applied distortion. Physical implications of the solution are discussed.
