Imogolite is a natural tubular aluminosilicate with an outer diameter of 2.5 nm and length of several micrometers. AI-OH groups at the outer surface of imogolite specifically interact with phosphoric groups. (Imogolite/poly(N- isopropylacrylamide)) hybrid hydrogel was prepared by the copolymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide and 2-methacryloyloxyethylphosphate, which is vinyl monomer with a phosphoric group, in the presence of imogolite without other cross-linking agent. The hybrid hydrogel was characterized by dynamic light scattering measurement and swelling and shrinking behaviors.
