Abstract

The authors treat the physical phenomenon of spray around the bow of a small high-speed craft as a free jet stream in this paper. Orbit and shape of the jet stream were analyzed using the theoretical analysis of a free jet stream proposed by E. O. Tuck(1976). The change of orbit and shape of the jet stream emanating from a nozzle were approximated using parameters of the velocity and the angle of the stream and the size of the nozzle as a model of bow spray. The authors also carried out a hydraulics experiment of the jet stream from the nozzle. The calculated results of the orbit and the shape of the jet stream were compared to the experimental results.
