Abstract

An approach to the synthesis of AK-toxin I and II starting from Vitamin C was investigated. During the course of the approach, the stereostructure of the trienoic acid part of the toxins were reveled to be 8(R),9(S)- or 8(S),9(R)-9,10-epoxy-9-methyl-8-hydroxy-2E,4Z,6E-decatrienoic acid.
