An ESR analysis of C60S16

Abstract

The electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum of C60S16 has been analyzed. It has been found that this compound has radical spins of only one spin per 103-104 C60 molecules. In this sense, C60S16 is an essentially neutral van der Waals complex. Nonetheless, the observed anisotropy of the ESR lineshape suggests that rotation and pseudorotation of C60- in C60S16 is suppressed even at room temperature.
