Abstract

An underground search has been made for fractionally charged particles by measuring precisely the d E/d x and the time of flight of the penetrating cosmicray particles with six layers of scintillator hodoscopes. No candidate was found for relativistic particles with charge 2/3 or 1/2, setting upper limits on the flux of 9.8.10^-13 and 7.5.10^-13cm^-2sr^-1s^-1, respectively.
