Abstract
The collapse of an itinerant electron magnetic moment under high magnetic fields is examined by using a ferrimagnetic Er1-xLuxCo2 system. Metamagnetic behaviour was observed for x=0.25 at H=15T. Anomalous volume shrinkage was also detected in the magnetostriction measurements. These results indicate that the Co moment collapses under high magnetic fields.
