Application of nonthermal plasma to chemical reactions

Abstract

A review covers applicability of nonthermal plasma (NTP) to chemical reactions such as removal of hazardous air pollutants, like NOx and VOC; H2 production from small molecules and hydrocarbon reforming; NTP generating methods; physicochemical nature of NTP; general mechanisms of NTP reactions; and hybridization of NTP with catalysts/photocatalysts. NTP is one of the technologies under further development. Promotion of fundamental and applied researches is needed because this technique has economical and environmental benefits if applied to specific purposes.
