Approach for "regional base university of energy education"

Abstract

As for the plan of Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Information Center for Energy and Environment Education is tackling to the program for the regional base university of energy education from 2002. It is the main objectives to teach the concept of energy conservation and renewable energy for the children learning at elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools. In this stage, 36 universities are active as the regional base university in Japan. Moreover 11 universities are selected as the advanced regional base university. From 2004 to 2006, Iwaki Meisei University was active as the regional base university to construct the model of energy education program based on the regional cooperation. At the present, we are active as the advanced regional base university to make the wide network connecting the university, schools, industries, city, prefecture, and government. The activities in Iwaki Meisei University are consisted of four approaches, i.e., (1) experience study, (2) opening of symposium, (3) external class for students and parents, and (4) development of educational equipments.
