Abstract
A pump scheme for Ar2 excimer emission from laser-heated plasma was analyzed. The emission from Ar2 excimers was obtained in this scheme by pre-ionized high-pressure Ar gas excited by intense CO2 laser radiation. The scheme was advantageous as an intense pump power could be deposited into the high pressure gas without being limited by discharge instability.
