Abstract

Behind Touch are input device and GUI for mobile medias like as mobile phones or PDA. Mobile phones have a limit in size, because portability is significant condition for them. In the proposed device, 12 keys are not arranged on the top but on the backside of mobile phone, in order to enlarge the liquid crystal display. However we cannot look the keys on backside to confirm their position when we operate. This research realizes a method to operate directly and speedily by interface which can help the operation of keys on backside by tactile sense device and Behind Touch's GUI of showing users' finger position. In Behind Touch, we select the button showing on display by touching the keys on backside and operate by pushing them. Behind Touch can offer comfortable text inputting or various operations with small-sized in-put device riot only for PDA, wearable computer, but also remote controls of home electric appliances which their display are positioned away from the operating point.
