Bottom-up synthesis of titania and zirconia nanosheets and their composites with graphene

Abstract

Simple impregnation of graphene oxide (GO) in cyclohexane containing Ti(OC4H9)4 or Zr(OC4H 9)4, followed by a solvothermal reaction, resulted in the deposition of nanosheets of TiO2 or ZrO2 a few nanometers thick on the reduced GO. In addition, free-standing nanosheets of TiO 2 or ZrO2 were formed by calcination of these composites in air.
