Coherent Raman imaging of human living cells using a supercontinuum light source

Abstract

Molecular images of human epithelial cells are obtained without any treatment by ultrabroadband multiplex coherent antiStokes Raman scattering (CARS) microspectroscopy. Based on a spectral analysis of the multiplex CARS spectra, only the vibrationally resonant signals are successfully extracted. The CARS images at the C-H stretch vibrational mode clearly show the cell membrane, nucleus, and membranous organelle such as mitochondria.
