Composition and temperature dependence of antiphase domain size of long-period superstructures in L-Pd5Ce

Abstract

The long-period superstructures in L-Pd5Ce have been studied by electron diffraction (ED) and high resolution (HR) electron microscopy. The averaged antiphase domain size M- was found to change with Ce concentration of the alloy and with temperature. The degree of order S was experimentally determined as a function of temperature using the thickness-fringe technique. The experimental values for S suggest that the temperature dependence of M- can be explained in terms of the atomic disordering.
