Abstract

From the whole body of sea cucumber Cucumaria echinata (Cucumariidae), we recently identified six genuine holostane‐type triterpenoid glycoside sulfates designated as cucumechinoside A (1), B (2), C (3), D (4), E (5), and F (6). The structures 1–6 were determined on the basis of chemical and spectral investigations. Antitumor activities of these cucumechinosides and their solvolized compounds (10, 11, and 12) against murine lymphoma L 1210 and human epidermoid carcinoma KB cell in vitro were examined, and their antifungal and antiprotozoal activities were also investigated.
