Abstract

The compaction grouting method (called the CPG hereafter) is classified into the densification/compaction method in its soil stabilization principle. In the CPG, taking the balance between strength increment and upheaval of ground is very significant, since the surrounding ground is densified by injecting a stiff soil cement mortal with low slump value under comparatively high pressure. Therefore, the increment of N-value after improvement and the upheaval of ground during grouting are highlighted in this paper. Resent case histories at airports, ports and historical buildings are introduced as one of the countermeasures against liquefaction applicable to the liquefiable ground beneath the existing structures.
