Abstract
Aluminum in Al-amalgam easily reacts with moisture to form amorphous aluminum hydroxide continuously. This amorphous material transforms to a-alumina via r-alumina (without passing transient alumina such as 0- or k-alumina) at lower temperature than the crystalline aluminum hydroxide such as bayerite. the crystallization temperatures of the material were increased by the treatment in vacuum and were lowered by the treatment in water vapor.
