Design and Characterization of One-Sided Directional Slot Antenna for 1 THz Waves

Abstract

A highly one-sided directional slot antenna for waves of 1-THz frequency range has been designed and fabricated. The antenna is composed of a floating metal and coplanar-waveguide feed line. The antenna was fabricated on a quartz substrate by using the planar process technology. The antenna size was 290 J.1m x 200 J.1m. The measured peak gain was 5.57 dBi at 0.93 THz, which well agrees with the simulated peak gain of 5.96 dBi at 1 THz.
