Design and implementation of Content Warehouse for optimal performance of Content Centric Network

Abstract

The storage of Content Centric Network router has limited capacity to reap optimal benefits of the architecture. The content persistency in cache is very minimal for a heterogeneous popular content case, though in-network caching is optimal for homogeneous popular content. This cause network traffic redundancy, server load and delay latency. The aim of this proposal is to introduce large data storage device (Content Warehouse) at BGP router of AS/ISP to store network-wide popular content for a long period, calculate by Valued Popular Content (VPC) from Popularity Table that we propose. Apart from request rate, VPC includes distance factor of arriving interest and data packets towards the BGP router to find valued popular content for storage into the Content Warehouse. We also introduce Content Warehouse Advertisement to achieve reliable fast forwarding by strategy layer. Our simulation result shows 79.01% inter-AS/ISP traffic reduction, 91.23% reduction on server load and 50.07% reduction on the delay latency.
