Design and synthesis of "reactive carbon nanotube solubilizers"

    Abstract

    We describe here a new category for single-walled cabon nanotube solubilizers, that is, "reactive carbon nanotube solubilizers" that are solubilizers carrying a reactive moiety for the introduction of desired functional groups. The introduction of new functional groups to the maleic anhydride moiety was readily demonstrated. "Reactive cabon nanotube solubilizers" should be highly useful for the design and synthesis of novel nanotube solubilizers with specific functions in the wide fields of nanoscience and technology.
