Detection of flaws in ferromagnetic samples based on low frequency eddy current imaging

Abstract

The detection of deep flaws in steel plates by using the DFG probe at low frequency excitation was reported. The samples were line scanned by the probe with the lift-off about 0.01 mm. It was found that phase shift due to a flaw has a peak value at the specific frequency, and the frequency depends on the depth of the flaw location.
