The detection of deep flaws in steel plates by using the DFG probe at low frequency excitation was reported. The samples were line scanned by the probe with the lift-off about 0.01 mm. It was found that phase shift due to a flaw has a peak value at the specific frequency, and the frequency depends on the depth of the flaw location.
