Abstract

New chromogenic hydrogen donors (la—c) for peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation were synthesized and demonstrated to be potentially useful for spectrometric determination of hydrogen peroxide. Under oxidative conditions these compounds exhibit, without an additional component, intense blue colors at ca. 650 nm with higher sensitivities toward hydrogen peroxide than those of conventional reagents. The detection limit of hydrogen peroxide using these compounds was 0.1 μM under serum-free conditions.
