Abstract
YBa2Cu3Ox crystals were synthesized at low temperature using barium nitrate melts as a flux. Barium nitrate melts were maintained in a molten state by controlling their decomposition under various gas pressures. By decomposing nitrates at a slow rate, orthorhombic YBa2Cu3Ox crystals were directly synthesized at 690°C under a NOx/Ox atmosphere.
