Abstract

We designed and measured the Voltage Controlled Oscillator(VCO) with coplanar wave guide(CPW) resonator at 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz band. The CPW lines are simulated by using EM simulator, and connected to other active elements by using SPICE co-simulator. We can realize the size reduction of CPW VCO. Next, we discussed about the design method of high performance VCO. For reducing the phase noise of the VCO, we proposed the band elimination filter(BEF) instead of the LC tank circuit in the VCO. BEF has a steep skirt property, design of bandwidth and design the attenuation poles. So we can reduce the phase noise by changing the resonant slope of the pass band.
