Abstract
The stress and displacement fields resulting from the excavation of a circular or an elliptic tunnel in a viscoelastic medium under out-of-plane shear loadings are obtained by use of the theory of linear viscoelasticity and the correspondence principle. Some numerical examples for Standard- and Burgers-models are given by graphical representation.
