Abstract
The laser action was firstly demonstrated using 1-cyano-trans-1,2-bis-(4'- methylbiphenyl)ethylene (CN-MBE), that enhances its fluorescence from organic nanoparticle. The CN-MBE is not fluorescent and has enhanced fluorescence in aggregated nanoparticle state. CN-MBE doped PMMA film showed fluorescence over 400600nm and spectral narrowed emission at 430nm under pumping with a nanosecond pulsed laser at wavelength of 355nm. CN-MBE:PMMA DFB laser waveguides were successfully fabricated, and lasing wavelength was over 430 to 490nm. CN-MBE:PMMA DFB lasers showed laser threshold of 73J/cm2 at the waveguide size of 15mm100m5m. The output spectra had bandwidth as narrow as 60pm FWHM, and suppressed fluorescence background of less than 0.5%. The maximum peak power and average power were estimated to be 5W and 0.35W, respectively. The durability was as long as 1.7104 shots/waveguide.
