Effect of deviation from stoichiometry on magnetic and magnetocaloric properties in MnAs1-xSbx

Abstract

The Mn1+δAs1-xSbx samples with the excess Mn content were prepared and subjected to the magnetization measurements. The single phase of the NiAs-type structure was obtained when the samples were slightly enriched by Mn. Presumably, the excess Mn atoms occupy the interstitial site in the NiAs-type structure. The Curie temperature and magnetic entropy change are decreased with increasing δ. These results suggest that the excess Mn atoms have significant influences on magnetism of MnAs 1-xSbx system.
