Electric field bifurcation and transition in the core plasma of CHS

Abstract

In the CHS heliotron/torsatron, dynamic phenomena associated with transitions in radial electric field were observed during combined ECH+NBI heated plasmas. The observations with high temporal resolution confirmed a nonlinear relationship between radial electric field and radial current as the cause of these phenomena associated with electric field bifurcation.
