Electrical conductivity of organized chromophores in bilayer film

Abstract

Long chain molecular crystal films in multi-bilayer structure have been prepared by simple casting technique in several μm thickness, and they were observed in electric conductivity as {A figure is presented} with anisotropy of {A figure is presented}. Introduction of chromophores of benzene, stilbene, or azobenzene unit into this long chain molecule was tried, and the photo conductivity was observed in order to check the direct π-electron transfer among the molecules. Significant photo enhancement in the conduction current was observed at more than 103 times by mercury lamp illumination at room temperature.
