Abstract

Au/PI/(Rh-G2 + PI)/PI/Au and Au/PI/(Rh-G2 + PI)/PI/Al junctions were prepared with an artificially layered structure containing rhodamine dendrite macromolecules (Rh-G2). Steps in the I-V characteristic of these functions were observed. It was found that the device using organic monomolecule, Rh-G2 dendrite molecule, function as a single electron tunnel device. It was concluded that the presence of metal/organic interfacial states made a significant contribution to the I-V characteristics of these junctions.
