Abstract

Electrochemical coupling of 1,3,5-tris(diphenylamino)benzene (TDAB) occurs in dichloromethane or trichloroethane solution in the presence of tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate or perchlorate. The obtained material contains radical cations, the spin concentration of which is of the order 1019 g-1. An anodic reaction pathway of TDAB is proposed on the basis of the dimerization mechanism of the triphenylaminium radical cation.
