Abstract

The formation of a Cr-rich phase in alpha -steel is accelerated by cold working prior to 748 K aging. Formation behavior is almost identical in cold worked alpha steel and ( alpha prime plus alpha ) steel. Embrittlement in the ( alpha prime plus alpha ) steel is retarded because of finely dispersed martensite in spite of the acceleration of Cr-rich phase formation. Elongation is about 10% after 1000 ks aging.
