Evaluation of the usefulness of 111In-DTPA-IgG scintigraphy for the detection of focal inflammatory lesions

Abstract

We evaluated the usefulness of 111In-DTPA-IgG scintigraphy for the detection of focal inflammatory lesions. We examined 9 patients with focal inflammatory lesions that had been diagnosed based on the findings of various types of laboratory data and other imaging modalities. Scanning was performed at 6, 24, 36 and 48 hours after the administration of 80 MBq of 111In- DTPA-IgG. The sensitivity was 78%. A good diagnostic ability was observed by the scintigraphy findings at 24 hours. In conclusion, 111In-DTPA-IgG scintigraphy at 24 hours is thus considered to be useful for detecting focal inflammatory lesions.
