Experimental analysis of shear behavior of oval perfobond connector

Abstract

This paper describes 21 push-out tests on Perfobond connector in high strength concrete. The main objective of these tests was to compare the shear behavior between circular and oval Perfobond connector and derive the influence of shear area. The test results indicate that the shear capacities of circular and oval Perfobond are the same when they have equal area of hole. The influence of proportion of the insert bar area versus the area of hole is analyzed and the reason is given. Two advices for design Perfobond connector are proposed.
