Experimental study on mechanical behavior of beam to square cft column connections with built-in reinforcing bars

Abstract

This study presents the development of a new connection of beam to square CFT column. The connection is characterized by the use of built-in reinforcing bars in the CFT members, which joint the column to column without a welding work. Therefore, it can be easily applied on the structure using super high strength steel that has been developed in recent years. In this study, the applicability of this connection is investigated experimentally with several specimens. As a result, it reveals that the hysteretic behaviors are very stable in the case of the appropriate anchored length of the bars. And the proposed strength evaluation method is reasonable for the practical use.
